Emergencies – whether natural or manmade – put enormous strain on all communications networks, many to the point of failure exactly at the time they are most needed. Utilities’ traditional reliance on private networks to ensure communications has lessened in recent years as more have adopted commercial solutions, but experience from the most recent major incidents is causing many organizations to rethink their communication strategy. This session will examine potential solutions and the response of the utility sector to a typical emergency.
